In a stunning move, Oklahoma City Thunder star Russell Westbrook has reportedly decided to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers. According to his agent, Thad Foucher, Westbrook has agreed to a four-year, $206 million deal with the Clippers.
The move comes as a surprise, as Westbrook had been linked to the Houston Rockets in recent weeks. However, the Clippers were able to offer a more lucrative deal, and Westbrook ultimately decided to join forces with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in Los Angeles.
Westbrook, who was the 2017 NBA MVP, has spent the last 11 seasons with the Thunder. He is the franchise's all-time leader in points, assists, and rebounds. He averaged 22.9 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 10.7 assists per game last season.
The move to the Clippers will give Westbrook a chance to compete for an NBA championship. The Clippers are expected to be one of the top teams in the Western Conference next season, and they could be a legitimate title contender.
It remains to be seen how the move will affect the Thunder, who are now without their franchise cornerstone. However, the team is expected to receive a massive haul of draft picks and young players in return for Westbrook.
