Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson and Michelle Pfeiffer will miss Critics Choice Awards after testing positive for

COVID-19 is clearing out the Critics' Choice Awards.

Jamie Lee Curtis, 64, who is nominated for her supporting role in Everything Everywhere All at Once, was the first to announce that she would miss Sunday night's award show after testing positive for COVID-19 following her attendance at the Golden Globes on Tuesday.

That star-studded affair also drew Colin Farrell — a winner for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy — and his Banshees of Inisherin co-star and supporting actor nominee Brendan Gleeson. On Saturday The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that both Farrell, 46, and Gleeson, 67, have also come down with COVID-19 and will not attend the Critics' Choice Awards as planned.

Michelle Pfeiffer, 64, will also be a no-show, the actress told fans on Sunday. In an Instagram post, Pfeiffer shared that her own COVID-19 diagnosis meant she wouldn't be on hand to celebrate Jeff Bridges — her co-star in The Fabulous Baker Boys — getting the Lifetime Achievement Award at the show, which will be hosted by comedian Chelsea Handler.

"I’m so sorry to be missing the Critics Choice Awards today. Yep, COVID," the "disappointed" star wrote, going on to pay tribute to Bridges.

While the Golden Globes had its own share of absences — including winners Cate Blanchett, Amanda Seyfried and a flood-stranded Kevin Costner — the confluence of rising COVID-19 cases and a cluster of mostly unmasked Hollywood gatherings doesn't bode well for awards season. Someone check on Jennifer Coolidge — last seen being escorted to the Golden Globes stage by Farrell.

Miss USA R'Bonney Gabriel wins 71st Miss Universe after making history twice in 2022

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana -- Congrats to Texas' own R'Bonney Gabriel as she won Miss Universe 2023! She made history twice last year when she became the first Asian American woman to win the title of Miss Texas USA in June and then the first Filipina to win Miss USA in October.

The video above is from a previous report.

Gabriel spoke to our sister station, ABC13, before she left for New Orleans two weeks ago and shared how her national win was a dream come true. Up to that point, it had been 14 years since Texas took home the Miss USA crown.

"It all happened so fast. When they called my name, I didn't realize I won. It was probably about five seconds and I'm not reacting. Then I felt that sash come over me. It was just such a rush of feelings and I tell people you kind of black out because there's so much going on. It was just pure, utter shock really," she said.

Her mom is from Beaumont and her father is an immigrant from the Philippines. To Gabriel, preserving and celebrating her culture has always been a priority. Although she never saw a state titleholder that looked like her, she never let that hinder her confidence.

I took that win home for my family, for my community, for Houston, for Texas, and for the Asian American community," Gabriel said.

The Houston native dazzled judges and fans with her unique and stylish wardrobe, taking home the Best State Costume award in an outfit inspired by the Texas bluebonnet. Her national costume, titled "Woman on the Moon", is a tribute to the NASA Space Center in Houston, which is working to send the first woman to the moon.

She is known for her passion of environmental sustainability in the fashion industry. Her biography on the Miss Universe website states she was a high school volleyball player who pivoted to fashion and quickly fell in love with constructing designs with fabrics and textiles at the age of 15. She earned a bachelor's degree in fashion design from he University of North Texas in 2018.

Currently, she works as the lead sewing instructor at Magpies and Peacocks in the EaDo district, teaching sewing classes to survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. The nonprofit design house is dedicated to using "fashion as a force for good" through sustainability and community impact.

"I think when people think about fashion, they think about the surface level -- beautiful clothes and beautiful people. But there's so much more you can do within the industry. The industry is the second largest polluting industry in the world," she said.

Gabriel added, "When you think about how a shirt is made, there's a lot of extra fabric that's just thrown into the landfill. So my mission is to use that excess fabric or recycle and upcycle different fabrics, and make new beautiful pieces from it to combat the issue of pollution in my industry."

Typically, Miss USA resides in Los Angeles during her year of service, but Gabriel said she's spent most of the last three months in Houston to prepare for the Miss Universe competition. Gabriel competed alongside 83 other contestants in New Orleans on Saturday.

She is the first Miss USA to take home the international title in more than a decade and move to Thailand for her year of service. She also plans on continuing her own clothing brand, "R'Bonney Nola", and serving as an ambassador for her platform.

I want to be remembered as a very hard working, unique woman that really embraced my passion for fashion. I want to be remembered for embracing who I was and really just putting my best foot forward, embracing my culture and owning who I am. I hope that inspires everybody else, too," said Gabriel.

Marie Osmond says her kids won't get an inheritance: All it does is 'breed laziness and entitlement'

Marie Osmond

isn't budging on her plan to leave her children out of her inheritance.

The former country singer, 63, opened up about her plans to donate her wealth to charity instead of leaving it to her seven kids.

"Honestly, why would you enable your child to not try to be something? I don’t know anybody who becomes anything if they’re just handed money,” Osmond told Us Weekly. “To me, the greatest gift you can give your child is a passion to search out who they are inside and to work. I mean, I’ve done so many things from designing dolls and much more. I love trying and I wanna try everything. I’m a finisher.”

Osmond, who found fame at a young age as a member of the famous Osmond family, is mother to eight children: Stephen, 39, Rachael, 31, Jessica, 35, Brandon, 26, Brianna, 24, Matthew, 23, and Abigail, 18. In 2010, her 18-year-old son, Michael, died by suicide.

The singer firmly believes that leaving wealth can discourage the younger generation from working hard.

"That’s one of my rules with my kids. If you start it, you finish it, you don’t ever have to do it again, but you gotta finish. And, I just think all an inheritance does is breed laziness and entitlement. I worked hard and I’m gonna spend it all and have fun with my husband," shared Osmond, who remarried ex-husband Stephen Craig in 2011, more than 25 years after their divorce.

Osmond first revealed her financial plans back in 2020 during a segment on The Talk in which the hosts were discussing Kirk Douglas, who died in February of that year at age 103. The movie star left most of his multimillion-dollar fortune to charity

I'm not leaving any money to my children,” Osmond explained to her co-hosts. “Congratulations, kids. My husband and I decided that ... I think you do a great disservice to your children to just hand them a fortune because you take away the one most important gift you can give your children, and that’s the ability to work."

Osmond added that children of wealthy families often “don’t know what to do” and “get in trouble." “Let them be proud of what they make, and I’m going to give mine to my charity," she added.

Despite her statements, Osmond elaborated that she has no problem helping out her children financially through their lives, whether it's to purchase a home or a car.

Encouraging her children to find financial success on their own is an important lesson for Osmond, who previously explained that she has found tremendous value throughout her six-decade career in the entertainment industry.

"I've been very blessed to see my work as work and my life as life," she told Yahoo Life in January 2022. "I think that's where in show business a lot of people get lost. Maybe their self-worth is invested only in their work. But I love life and I don't have to be on stage to be happy. I can always be happy."

Brighton vs Liverpool: Seagulls Look to Soar Past the Reds in Premier League Clash"

Brighton and Hove Albion will host Liverpool at the American Express Community Stadium on Wednesday, January 13th. The match will be a crucial one for both teams as they look to secure a spot in the top half of the Premier League table.

Brighton comes into the match with a solid record at home, having won four of their last five matches at the American Express Community Stadium. They will be led by manager Graham Potter, who has done a good job of organizing his team defensively and creating scoring opportunities.

Liverpool, on the other hand, will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing run of results. They have struggled with injuries to key players, but will have a full squad available for this match. Manager Jurgen Klopp will be expecting his team to come out strong and secure all three points.

Both teams are evenly matched and it should be an exciting match. Brighton will look to use their home advantage to their advantage while Liverpool will look to continue their dominance over Brighton. In the end, it will be a close match, but Liverpool's quality and experience may give them the edge they need to secure a win.

Overall, it will be a tough match for both teams, but Liverpool should come out on top. However, Brighton will give them a good fight and will not make it easy for them. It will be a great match to watch for the Premier League fans
