Rendon's suspension reduced to 4 games by MLB.

Major League Baseball (MLB) has reduced the suspension of Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon from six games to four games. Rendon was initially suspended for his role in a benches-clearing incident during a game against the Oakland Athletics on April 6th. The altercation started when Rendon was hit by a pitch and proceeded to stare down the pitcher as he walked to first base. This led to both teams rushing onto the field, and Rendon was seen pushing an opposing player.

After reviewing the incident, MLB determined that Rendon violated their rule against "aggressive actions" on the field. Rendon appealed the suspension, but ultimately decided to drop his appeal and serve the reduced four-game suspension.

The loss of Rendon will be a blow to the Angels, who signed him to a seven-year, $245 million contract in 2019. Rendon is a three-time All-Star and considered one of the top third basemen in the league. However, the Angels have a capable backup in Jack Mayfield, who will likely fill in for Rendon during his suspension.

The incident is a reminder of the tensions that can arise during a baseball game, especially when a player is hit by a pitch. While benches-clearing incidents are not uncommon, MLB takes a strong stance against any actions that could lead to injuries or escalate tensions on the field.
