Eric Holder Jr. Sentenced to 60 Years to Life in Prison for Nipsey Hussle Murder

Eric Holder Jr., the man accused of killing rapper Nipsey Hussle, was sentenced to 60 years to life in prison on Thursday. Holder was found guilty of one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon in May.

Holder was accused of shooting Hussle outside of his clothing store in Los Angeles in March 2019. The shooting sparked an outpouring of grief from the hip-hop community and beyond.

At the sentencing hearing, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Robert J. Perry said that Holder had shown no remorse for his actions and that he had “taken a life in a senseless act of violence.”

Holder’s attorney, Chris Darden, argued that his client had acted in self-defense and that he had been provoked by Hussle. However, the jury rejected this argument and found Holder guilty.

Holder’s sentence is the maximum allowed under California law. He will be eligible for parole after serving at least 60 years in prison.
